First of all, happy St. Patty's Day to everyone!  Be safe, and make sure to bring those pink balls out with you tonight.

Some quick updates for everyone.

There was a big prize winner last week that everyone should read about in The Goods.   We have a lot of new rewards coming into the system this week so keep your eyes open and check out your favorite brands to see if they are among the list.

We are working on making our blog/news section a lot better, so look for some big changes in this area in the next month or so.

Over the last few months we have been reading EVERY piece of feedback we got from you guys, and we are working on making the changes you have requested.  I wish I could tell you more, but trust me it will be worth the wait.

We have a few new contests coming up also, which we will keep everyone informed about.  Plus some exciting event news!

We are a small team still so change takes time.  We are still very much in Beta (meaning 'under construction')  so the site will be undergoing changes quite often the next few months.  Thanks for your patience, and thank you for helping spread the word!

P.S.   Today is the last day to submit your videos for the contest, so make sure to send them in by the end of the day.  We have gotten quite a few so far and we can't wait to show them to everyone.  We are tinkering around with some other video ideas because the response to the last one was so huge.  Ideas?

BMX rider and avid SocialVibe supporter Mike Escamilla was on FuelTV's 'The Daily Habit' yesterday.

The Daily Habit is a half-hour show profiling some of todays most popular action sports celebs, musicians, and anything cutting edge (ala Socialvibe.com).

Go ahead and click the link below to check out the preview of Mike on the show.  We are still looking for the footage, and will post it as soon as we get our hands on it for those of you who missed it.

He talks about how important it is for everyone to make a difference, and has now included SocialVibe.com as one of his official sponsors.  Pretty cool.

Look for some exciting stuff when Mike and SocialVibe team up this year.

The Daily Habit airs each night at 9:00pm ET/PT and is retelecast the next day at 12:00am ET, and 3:00pm ET.

From the complicated mind of artist Shepard Fairey comes the now iconic brand OBEY.

As one of the most influential street artists in the past two decades, Fairey has gone above and beyond stickers and posters featuring Andre the Giant commanding people to "OBEY".

His OBEY campaign offered a glimpse of the viral marketing world to come and has redefined the way artists become a household name - pretty good for a punk skater kid from South Carolina.  :)

Enjoy people, and feel free to now rep some amazing OBEY artwork courtsey of SocialVibe.

A lot of users have been asking for more info on how causes work so I thought it might be helpful to give you a background on where this concept came from.  Before we started building SocialVibe we were all very active on MySpace, Facebook, our Blogs, etc. and we loved that we could connect with amazing charities like The One Campaign, Invisible Children and One Laptop per Child.  These causes were changing the world and we wanted to get more involved.

Unfortunately we didn't have what these organizations desperately needed...MONEY!  But we realized that we did have something powerful, and that was the attention and influence from a huge network of friends so we thought how can we turn that attention and influence into money for these causes that we were passionate about?  The first step was to find someone willing to pay for that influence and attention...enter brands.

We knew that brands paid for advertising on our page already, but that stuff sucked.   The blinking shave Britney's head ad or out fart the guerilla were annoying.  We thought that we should be in control of what goes on our page (after all, they are OURS) and wondered if brands would make cool stuff that half of us would put on our page anyway!

Ambitious yes, but we went out and actually found brands that wanted to do it.  It was then that our early members started pushing us to realize that this concept could be huge and we should create a website where everyone on the internet could raise money for their favorite cause by simply placing cool brand artwork on their page.

Now that I've given you guys the background I know you're asking...how does it work?  Here is the deal, right now we have 7 cause categories and within each category we have specific charities.  In order to be one of the charities on SocialVibe we actually had to get their approval, which believe me isn't the easiest thing in the world.  As a SocialVibe member you get to select one of these causes to support.  By supporting that cause each time you place a brand badge on your page and your friends see it, the brands pay.  80% of our income goes to the cause category that you support.   Right now the money is distributed equally to each charity within the cause.

For example you guys raised $2,340 for the Peace and Human Rights cause, which means that $1,170 will go to Invisible Children, $1,170 will go to Ninemillion.org.

On March 27th we are going to make a change, instead of supporting a general cause you will have an opportunity to support a specific charity.  And that charity will send you a notification of your support and updates on where the money YOU raised is going.

I know its cliché but we really do have an amazing opportunity to change the world.  There are 60 million people on MySpace and 30 million on Facebook.  To date SocialVibe has raised over $20,000 and we haven't even scratched the surface!!!  Just imagine how much we can change when everyone gets involved!?!?  There is an amazing $80,000,000,000 (thats BILLION) spent on advertising on TV in the US alone.  Imagine if we could get just %1 of that to go through you to charities!?!  That would be $800,000,000 million dollars (Oprah eat your heart out...).  Okay, it's a big goal, but we see the potential here.

We live in a time where everyone can make a change, every voice can be heard, and it can be done with the click of a button.

We are STILL in Beta, and for those of you who have been with us from the start, you know we have only been in the public spotlight for a little while.  We just ask for patience, and your help in spreading the word.  We will do the rest :)
