Random post for everyone, but this Saturday SKIN clothing line is having their 10th anniversary party at Club Highlands in Hollywood California. For those of you who follow UFC and other fighting leagues there will be a bunch of sponsored fighters there. Confirmed attendees are Clay Guida, Rory Singer, Jaime Jara, Frank Edgar, Eddie Edgar, and Dana White
SKIN is a brand that will be in SocialVibe soon so they gave us up to 50 VIP spots for the event.
We thought we would hand them out to our members as a perk. The event is invite only, so if you are 21+, live in the area, and want to go shoot support@socialvibe.com an email with your name and one guests name. Please put 'SKIN Event' in the subject line, and use the email you signed up for with SV, it makes it easier for us to match it all up.
They will be handed out on a first come basis, so the order of emails determines if you get the spot. If you are added to the list you will be sent an email confirming you're added. A few SocialVibe employees will be there so if you see a pink ball make sure to grab a pic with us
A few brands within SocialVibe are now offering 3x the points if you choose them as your sponsor. This is a great opportunity to get some extra points for your cause, or for working on that 1,000 points needed to get a pink ball. It's not 500 anymore, sorry everyone You can see which brands offer this by looking for the "x3 Points" icon located on the brand tile.
There will be more ways in the future to get points and interact with our site. So keep an eye out for these things, although a lot of these changes will be pretty obvious when you guys see them, SocialVibe is still very much a work in progess
At the SocialVibe office, we not only enjoy hearing about YOUR charity contributions, but we also like to take part in them on our own! A little over a week ago SocialVibe employee Chelsea decided to bring the pink ball to one of her favorite charity events, Pat's Run! Being a native of Arizona, Pat's Run is a community driven, 4.2-mile run, to raise funds for the Pat Tillman Foundation. According to the Arizona State University's web site...
"The event honors the memory of former Sun Devil and Arizona Cardinals football player Pat Tillman, who left the world of professional athletics to serve his country in the U.S. Army. As a member of the Army Rangers, Tillman was killed in Afghanistan in 2004. The Pat Tillman Foundation was formed to carry forward his legacy by inspiring people to make positivechanges in themselves and in the world around them."
The run/walk is not as much a race as it is an experience. Everyone from all different athletic abilities (some with none ) came our for a great cause. Around 17,000 people participated in the run that started next to Sun Devil Stadium and ended on the 42 yard line.
Granted Chelsea didn't win any titles but she did finish in her goal of 42 minutes. She can vouch for how much she was hurting the next day! Although, she doesn't hesitate for second to say it was worth it to be involved in such an amazing day!
As always, let us know if there are any charity events you'd like to see SocialVibe involved with. We can't make promises of finsihing any 26K runs, but we do look into ALL the ideas sent our way.
This is a video one of our users made when they received their stuff from SocialVibe.com. Feel free to show it to anyone who doubts the power of our vibe Also, for those who are wondering about the video contest winner, we actually picked two. Unfortunately neither of them could make it to the event. So instead we sent them a gift bag filled with goodies from some of our brands, valued at over $500.
Love him or hate him, its good to see an internet celebrity doing something positive with their online fame. Crocker nails it on the head with this video. Thank you for the continued support Chris, a few other online celebs could learn a thing or two from you. Now do what the guy says and repost the video
Hi. My name is Sam Vogel, and I'm a 14 year old from Mill Valley California. I wanted to write an article for The Vibe on the fundraiser I do for the Make a Wish Foundation, and Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
If you don't know what the Make a Wish Foundation, it is a foundation that takes donations and "grants wishes" of seriously ill, but not always terminally ill, children. For example, they grant wishes such as meeting famous actors/singers, being on the sets of movie shoots, shopping sprees, going to Disneyland, anything to make their lives easier while they're cope with their illness. The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is the foundation that my friend, Sam Klitsner, the co-runner of my event, supports, and takes the donation for research on a cure for a type of cancer called Multiple Myeloma. Sam's grandmother died of Multiple Myeloma, which is why he decided to donate his portion of the money to it.
The event Sam and I run is called the Skate for a Cause. We have done it for 2 years now, raising a total of $14,000. We started the event as a Tikun Olam (Hebrew for "repairing the world") project for our Bar-Mitzvah's. We didn't want to stick to the regular trip to the retired person's home, although this is a good choice in its own. We wanted to do something that we really loved to do, so the first thing that came to mind was skateboarding! After a few weeks of deliberation we had decided on having our project be a fundraiser that worked almost like a walk-a-thon, and we named it "Skate 4 a Cause", but we normally refer to it as "the skate-a-thon". The way our event works is we get our friends (and hopfully more people other than our friends this year) to get thier parents, relatives, friends, and other people to sponsor them per-trick they attempt, and donate as much as they saw fit. For example, someone who wanted to donate $50 and wanted the person to try a kickflip 100 times, would sponsor the skater $0.50. We have it annually at the McInnis Skate park, in northern San Rafael, CA. This year we are working with the Parks and Rec. so we can get lots of advertising, and they will help set up the event and get lots of cool things we could never have had before, like speaker systems so we can stream music and gather everyone together quickly.
If you want to help, sign up for this year's event (date-to-be-decided shortly), or just be a part of the community, you can email me at samdaman4000@yahoo.com, go to my Facebook, or go to the s4ac website (still under construction), which is www.skate4acause.org. This website will be switching shortly to a much cooler design and features such as a forum site! Thanks for reading!

Also, the intro for the 2007 skate for a cause can be watched below :)
Yesterday was a VERY big day for SocialVibe, thanks to Earth Day and our members Together, SocialVibe users raised over $1,200 for the various environment causes in ONE DAY! See how easy that was?!?! No one had to do anything they weren't already doing, just use the internet and spread the word! That was our largest single amount raised in one day for a cause to date. To put that into perspective, if we could raise that amount every day for a year, it would total over $438,000 for JUST our environment causes. See the possibilities here?
A lot of this was in part to the hard work of one user in particular named Matthew Lush. Matthew went above and beyond yesterday to get people to sign up for SocialVibe. I don't want too spoil it to much, but we are getting ahold of Matt to see if he personally has a video or post he wants to put in the Vibe to thank everyone who helped him, so keep an eye out for this.
Thanks to everyone who helped. It was truly a milestone day for our site. Keep up the hard work, and we promise we will do our part to make sure this site has the world talking in 2008. Again thank you, and thanks Matthew Lush!
For those of you who don't know today is the wonderful Earth Day!!!!!
There is nothing more that SocialVibe loves than a day dedicated to making a difference. Being a part of Earth Day doesn't mean you have to become a 'hippie' overnight, in fact the point of Earth Day is to raise awareness, and the best way for everyone to do this is to make small changes in their lives that help our earth.
So here is the SocialVibe Earth Day challenge...
We want as many people today to sign up for SocialVibe and make a difference. They can choose Environment as their cause and we can raise as much money as possible for mother earth today This is where everyone can play a small part. Get your friends, family, dog, WHOEVER to sign up for SocialVibe today! Post bulletins, make phone calls, use the invite-a-friend, SCREAM AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS, whatever it takes.
This is a great chance for everyone to do their part today from their desk with a single click. I don't think it has ever been easier for people to make a difference online
To everyone in downtown San Diego today for the big Earth Day fair make sure to have a blast for all of us who couldn't make it! HAPPY EARTH DAY!
