At the SocialVibe office, we not only enjoy hearing about YOUR charity contributions, but we also like to take part in them on our own! A little over a week ago SocialVibe employee Chelsea decided to bring the pink ball to one of her favorite charity events, Pat's Run! Being a native of Arizona, Pat's Run is a community driven, 4.2-mile run, to raise funds for the Pat Tillman Foundation. According to the Arizona State University's web site...
"The event honors the memory of former Sun Devil and Arizona Cardinals football player Pat Tillman, who left the world of professional athletics to serve his country in the U.S. Army. As a member of the Army Rangers, Tillman was killed in Afghanistan in 2004. The Pat Tillman Foundation was formed to carry forward his legacy by inspiring people to make positive changes in themselves and in the world around them."
The run/walk is not as much a race as it is an experience. Everyone from all different athletic abilities (some with none
) came our for a great cause. Around 17,000 people participated in the run that started next to Sun Devil Stadium and ended on the 42 yard line.
Granted Chelsea didn't win any titles but she did finish in her goal of 42 minutes. She can vouch for how much she was hurting the next day! Although, she doesn't hesitate for second to say it was worth it to be involved in such an amazing day!
As always, let us know if there are any charity events you'd like to see SocialVibe involved with. We can't make promises of finsihing any 26K runs, but we do look into ALL the ideas sent our way.
