As promised, a personal letter from President Joe Marchese regarding the new features on SocialVibe! Hope this answers some lingering questions about the new features.

The response to the new SocialVibe has been amazing. To everyone who
sent positive feedback, thank you. And those of you who sent "less
than positive" feedback, we'd like to thank you too. It means a lot to
know that you care enough to send us your thoughts....the good and the
bad.
The biggest question about the new site is: Do the new “friending” and
“feeds” mean SocialVibe is another social network?
The easiest way to answer this is to start with what we are not: We
are not MySpace, or Facebook, or myYearbook, or any of your other
social networks. Because without all those other networks, SocialVibe
wouldn't be able to help you raise money for your cause. So while
there are now "friending" and "feeds" features, SocialVibe is not
meant to replace MySpace or MyYearbook as a place to express yourself,
nor is it a place to reconnect and manage your relationships like
Facebook.
What we are is a place where you can support the causes you care
about. A place where you can take all that time you spend on MySpace,
Facebook, myYearbook, or blog and make a real difference in the world.
Because SocialVibe is a place where you will find cool branded art
work, videos and other branded stuff that will look good on your
profiles, and help support your cause.
Then why have friends and feeds on SocialVibe, you ask?
Because you asked us to. And we listened.
We felt that it was fair for you to keep up with the causes and brands
your friends were supporting. We thought it was fair that you might
meet someone on SocialVibe that wasn’t on your social network, and
that you might want to say hello. And we wanted you to be able to talk
to each other about your causes and brands, and hopefully that
relationship would continue into your other social networks.
We realize the risk of confusing you, and we are going to work to make
sure that these new features support the types of things SocialVibe
was meant to be: A place where it is fun and easy to support the
things that are important to you.
All this said, if you don’t want to participate in friending, we've
made it easy for you to turn off friending. Nor will we show how many
friends you have on SocialVibe, because the number of friends you have
on SocialVibe doesn’t affect our main goal, which is to help you raise
money for your cause.
So if you want to keep up with a lot of people on SocialVibe, go for
it. But remember that it won't help earn more points for your cause.
In the end we hope that our recent changes make SocialVibe more social
and fun, and will give you more reason to come back to earn more
points. Because the more you interact with us at SocialVibe, the
bigger the difference we can make for all of the causes on SocialVibe.
We know it’s not perfect, and while we may never reach perfection, we
pride ourselves on giving you, our members, the best possible
experience while you earn money for your causes.
