Now that the golden boy of the Olympics has had some time to recoup from his winning streak of a record 8 gold medals, Michael Phelps is looking to take his fame into a different arena - entertainment! Totally understandable, considering how in-demand he is days.

First up, the human fish will be coming to you "live from New York" as the first host of the new season of Saturday Night Live on Sept 13. This is only the second time in history SNL has opened up a new season with an athlete, but considering the magnitude of Phelps' celebrity, I'm not surprised in the least. Phelps isn't known for his talking or comedic nature though, so it should be interesting to see what they come up with for his skits!

In addition to that hosting gig, rumor has it that Phelps will also be present at the MTV Music Video Awards on Sept 7! He has mentioned in multiple interviews how huge a fan of Lil' Wayne he is, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was announcing the rapper's performance at the VMAs.

Sports Illustrated has also turned his cover of him with his 8 gold medals into a poster and put up for sale. No SI cover in history has ever had that kind of treatment. Buy yours for only $15 here.

As if that weren't enough - Phelps has also announced that he will be writing a book about his journey to Olympic stardom. This book, working title "Built to Succeed," is said to be available in December - which is a mere 3 months away!! When will he have time to pen this memoir with all these other fabulous events on his schedule?

WOW. Michael Phelps overload! Good for him, though. He has worked his butt off and he deserves a the fame.
