Friday we told you about Surfrider's Celebrity Expression Session, which took place in Malibu, CA on Saturday as a part of their Malibu Surfing Association (MSA) Classic. The MSA Classic is a 2-day longboard competition honoring the fund, and has run every year since 1962 - making it the oldest of it's kind in Southern California.

The event was a huge success! Celebrities such as Jason Mraz, Chad Lowe, Richard Burgi, Flea, Sal Masekela, Peter DiStefano, Brandon Cruz, and David Chokachi came out to support Surfrider. Barefoot Wine sponsored the event, and donated $50 to the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project for each wave that was caught and rode. The Rescue Project is a partnership between Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation to keep America’s beaches “barefoot friendly.” Barefoot Wine has raised over $250,000 in the last year.

Saturday, they raised an additional $4,000 thanks to the Celebrity Expression Session! And by the looks of these pics, it seems like they had a blast as well.

“As surfers, we are always at the beach and in the water, so raising awareness on the conditions of our oceans and beaches is really important to us,” says actor David Chokachi. “This event is a great opportunity for us to do so and catch some waves with our friends.”

Yeah for saving the oceans, waves and beaches! Even if you don't live near a beach, you can still do your part to help by choosing Surfrider Foundation as your cause on SocialVibe. To double-help, choose project Blue as your sponsor - who donates a portion of all proceeds from sales of their awesome merch to protecting the coastline!
