It always makes us happy to see our members taking the fundamental values of SocialVibe offline and using it to influence real world change in their local communities. This is one of the reasons we have such an amazing Street Team following!
One of our members used a contest at her school as an opportunity to share her love of SocialVibe. The essay was so incredible, we couldn't help but post it here for the rest of the SocialVibe community to see. Take a moment to read it, you will be glad you did!

The essay is entitled-
"Why technology will play an important role in educating people and helping them to change their lives in an environmentally responsible way."
Technology has played a huge role in educating me and many others about problems with the environment and how we can help reduce and prevent the effects of global warming and many of the other things harming our environment. Over the summer, I discovered a website called SocialVibe.com. This is a charity website where you put a “badge” on any of your networking websites (Myspace, Facebook, etc). This badge has a corporate logo/advertisement on it, from big names companies such as Coca-Cola, E*TRADE, Adobe, etc. Then every time someone views your page, those sponsors donate money to a charity of your choice. There are many different causes and categories to choose from, including education, hunger & poverty, health, and the environment. The environment section includes the charities The World Wildlife Fund, which works to protect wild animals and their habitats, and the Surf rider foundation, which raises money to protect and preserve the world’s beaches. The website post’s how much money each cause raises, what the money goes to, and their goals of how much money to raise.
There is also a blog on the website where moderators often post tips on how to “go green” by just changing little parts of your daily life that you probably never realized even effected the environment. A few weeks ago there was something posted called “Help Mother Earth, Download Your Movies!” This article explains how downloading movies (legally, of course), saves materials by decreasing the production of DVD’s and more rarely nowadays, video cassettes. It also saves gas because you don’t have to drive down to your local movie rental place to get the movie and also to bring it back later. This little thing is something many people don’t even realize impact the environment, and it even makes things easier and more convenient on you. There was also an article posted called “Stay Green With an Eco-Friendly Dorm Room” which has 9 pieces of advice as to how a few small changes in the dorm can add up to a large, positive effect on our earth.
Being on Social Vibe this summer made me realize how much one person affects the world, and how that same person can really make a difference. It’s kind of a “hip” way to be aware and involved; it helps us really feel concerned and important when it comes to our effect on society and the world. I have been working hard to decrease my negative effect on the environment, and to raise money to help people become more aware of what they are doing to our earth. Social Vibe is raising the awareness of many teens and others across the country, and even across the world. I think it’s a wonderful thing and I am so glad to be a part of it.

Beautifully said!
