Canadian actor, and Scarlett Johansson's husband, Ryan Reynolds followed through with his fundraising promise to complete the New York City Marathon on Sunday.
Reynolds ran with Team Fox to support the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research, in honor of his father, Jim Reynolds, who has suffered from Parkinson's Disease for 15 years.

Reynold's marathon run is all the more impressive because he does not consider himself a runner. Before the race, he called himself a "running joke." The joke is on Ryan, though, because the hunky actor finished with final time of 3 hours and 50 minutes, much faster than he anticipated. He told reporters he was just happy to finish. "I'm still standing. I'm very excited about that."
Ryan says in the last leg of the race, he was motivated to keep going by one special spectator. "When I saw Michael J. Fox on Fifth Avenue, I gained about 15 pounds in goose bumps," Ryan said. "It kind of pushed me through the last six miles or so."
"[During the race] I thought a lot about my father and Michael and the 500,000 other people afflicted with this awful disease in the United States alone. I ran for those who can't," Ryan told People.
Ryan's fundraising goal was $75,000. According to the Team Fox website, he has passed his goal and raised a total of $80,831!

Also worth mentioning are the environmentally-friendly aspects of the NYC Marathon. The marathons' organizers worked hard to recycle an estimated 2 million water cups discarded by runners throughout the race.
Eco-friendly exercise while raising money for charity. Does it get any better?
