Sometimes, to get what you want, all you have to do is ask.
This is evidenced in the below communications between a Greenwich High School student and Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The student wrote a letter directly to Jobs asking for a student discount on the Apple software Final Cut Studio 2. His letter was polite and direct. Two weeks later, he got a lot more than he asked for.
The student told Gizmodo.com all about it. Here is his original email:

Boldness and enthusiasm will get you a long way! Now, excuse me while I write a few letters to the makers of all cool things.
