In the days leading up to his inauguration, President-elect Barack Obama is calling on US citizens to step up and take action for the better in their communities.
Obama has declared January 19, Martin Luther King Jr Day, a National Day of Service, in which kids, teens and adults make a pledge to volunteering in their local communities on that day. This campaign, Renew America Together, is an effort to reignite the nation's spirit of volunteerism and community service.

One of SocialVibe's Causes, the American Red Cross, has been invited to participate by registering volunteer events occurring on those days. To register your event, check out their online form here.
Want to participate as a volunteer but aren't sure where to start? Food bank, animal shelter, childrens hospital, park clean-up, homeless shelters, schools and churches are all good places to start.

What a GREAT way to start a Presidency, and a great start to 2009! Let's all get out there and help in our own way, and don't forget to bring your Pink Ball so you can take pics and spread the good word about SocialVibe!
Where are you going to volunteer?
