Anytime is a good time to donate blood, but now is an extra great time to get out there and help - January is National Blood Donor Month!

Several organizations, including The American Red Cross, are working together in encouraging people to donate blood this month. The goal is to help ensure that blood is available to patients whenever and wherever it may be needed.
The first of the year is the time when blood donations are the lowest - school breaks, flu season and inclement weather causing accidents are all obstacles in obtaining blood donations.
Anyone can donate - as long as you are 17 years of age, healthy and weigh at least 110lbs. 16 year olds can donate with parental consent. All blood types are welcome, but if you are Type O, you are a universal donor - meaning your donation can help save anyone in an emergency situation.
It's easy to find a donation location - just visit donatebloodnow.org! It only take an hour of your time, and your donation could save someone's life.
Even if you can't donate blood yourself, you can still support The American Red Cross' programs by choosing them as your Cause on SocialVibe.
Start the year off right - save a life, donate blood!
This kid knows a blood shortage is no laughing matter.
