Native Haitian and Fugee Wyclef Jean has always been dedicated of improving the quality of life for citizens in his birth country. He recently shared his latest mission to help the people of Haiti: building a school in Haiti.

“I want to start working on building a school. It’s going to be called the Yele Center. Hopefully I can start the fundraiser in six months, and I have the model.I want something that’s sustainable for kids. One person got me out of Haiti, my parents got me to America. I took the dream back to Haiti. If I could just save one kid with that school, and get the next Wyclef Jean or the next Shakira, I’ll be satisfied.”

Wyclef started his own foundation in 2005, Yele Haiti, dedicated to supporting projects that make a difference in education, health, environment and community development for the impoverished country.

Helping along the way are fellow celebs Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon, both active philanthropists in their own right.

You can help rebuild Haiti with SocialVibe by choosing Music for Relief as your Cause. Linkin Park has teamed up with MFR and SocialVibe to try and raise $25,000 for hurricane victims in Haiti - we're already 1/5 of the way there. Help us spread the word and reach our goal!

I am so glad to see that Haiti has people that care for them. <33 And that I am going to help them improve. Haiti is so close to Puerto Rico, all those natural disasters could have hit us! And since we were blessed by being unharmed, I think that is a responsible thing to help those who are so close by, and need it.

Uhm, Haiti is a couple of thousand miles from Africa. And perhaps people who do good deeds shouldn't be criticized about which cause they decide to dedicate their time and effort towards?
