Michael Phelps' recent walk down stoney lane earned him more punishment than most kids his age receive for similar acts; in addition to much unwanted media scrutiny, he has also been stripped of several brand sponsorships and endorsements.
Even after issuing an apology, the public doesn't seem have a whole lot of forgiveness in them. His collaborating partiers, on the other hand, got off scot-free! Until now, that is.

Columbia, South Carolina Sheriff Leon Lott was getting a lot of grief for spending so much time investigating just Phelps' role in the bong-tastrophy, so he decided to go after all eight of the students involved.
Eight total arrests were made, 7 for possession and 1 for distribution. Keep in mind that although Phelps has dealt with his share of wrist-slapping, the Olympic swimmer hasn't been officially charged. These kids totally got the crap end of the deal!
I'm willing to wager that if they weren't with Phelps, they would have never found out.
What do you think - is this totally unfair or is justice being served?
P.S. The infamous bong was seized by police after the owner tried to hock it on eBay for $100,000. For a bong? Really?
