Last night, d00d and I had the honor of attending a very special event for Children Mending Hearts at the House of Blues in LA. The organization has been working with International Medical Corps to improve the lives of women and children in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a region that has suffered through 20 years of relentless fighting that has led to an estimated 5.4 million deaths.

Ben Affleck and CMH's Lysa Heslov gave speeches about their experiences in the Congo and why this cause is near and dear to their heart, along with honoree Anderson Cooper, who received an award for his work. Sheryl Crow gave an outstanding performance and comedian Richard Kind co-hosted a silent auction with Christie's to raise funds for the cause.
Also in attendance were Oscar nominee Marisa Tomei, Bridget Moynahan, Joel and Benji Madden, Kate Walsh, Alyssa Milano, Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth Banks and more.
Here are some photos from the event, courtesy of PopSugar, followed by one from my crappy iPhone.
