Today is the first ever World Day of Social Justice. Proclaimed by the United Nations (UN), the purpose of this day is to contribute to the efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.

- "Recognizing the need to promote efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion and unemployment, the UN General Assembly has decided to observe 20 February annually – starting in 2009 – as the World Day of Social Justice."
So how can you help? Arrange an event to spread awareness at your school or elsewhere in your community. Post a bulletin or update your status on your social networks to make everyone aware of the importance of this holiday.
And as always, you can choose an appropriate cause on SocialVibe such as the UN World Food Programme, charity: water or RE*Generation. To support all these charities equally, simply choose Hunger and Poverty as your Cause.
