It's been nearly three years since Madonna officially adopted her son David from his orphanage in Malawi through Raising Malawi. The organization, founded by the pop singer, is dedicated to bringing an end to the extreme poverty and hardship endured by Malawi's one million orphans.
David was surrendered to the orphanage by his father after his mother died of complications from childbirth when he was a week old. In an added act of kindness, Madonna recently donated boxes of clothes belonging to her 3 year old son to his former orphanage, The Home of Hope Orphanage Centre.

The box, labeled "from David Ritchie to friends at Home of Hope - Malawi" included clothes, toys, and children's books, along with autographed copies of Madonna's own children book, English Roses.
- "These are clothes David can no longer use; they say he is quite a big boy now so he cannot use most of the clothes Madonna bought him immediately after he was adopted," said a source close to the orphanage. "The children were excited to receive the clothes."
Home of Hope director Lucy Chipeta confirmed the surprise package, but could not confirm who the generous donation came from. "We have lots of friends across the globe who send us stuff from time to time," she said.
The orphanage is one of six that Raising Malawi is currently working with. Regardless of who sent the box (but we think the autographed books is a dead give-away), it's a generous donation that should be commended.
If Raising Malawi were a Cause on SocialVibe, would you support them?
