You know that old saying, "I've got eyes in the back of my head?" Unfortunately, that's just not possible, and we all know it. Unless you're a Micropinna microstoma, that is - a peculiar breed of fish that has a transparent top and rotating eyeballs that allows him to keep a look out for predators swimming above!
Researchers from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute used remote operated vehicles (ROVs) to study the fishie off the coast of Central California. The fish seem to enjoy hanging out at depths of 2,000-2,600 ft and remain entirely motionless - letting their see-through head and rotating eyes do all the work.
