The world is buzzing over some recent controversial comments made about and by two of the biggest names in the political game. Meghan McCain's fat feud with a radio host and President Obama's comments about the bowling Special Olympics have both sparked intense debate, and we want to get your feedback.

Meghan McCain, daughter of ex-Presidential candidate John McCain, was the victim of a drive-by verbal slaying after conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham made remarks on her show calling her "a useful idiot" and "flavor of the month." Ingraham worsened the blow after referring to the 24 year-old as a "plus-sized model."
McCain, rightfully offended and trying to be a good role model for young girls, has taken this opportunity to speak out about women's issues rather than just defending herself. She writes on her blog, McCainBloggette.com:
- "I couldn't possibly understand how any woman could criticize another woman's weight. I'm a pop-culture junkie and when Tyra Banks went on her show in her bathing suit and said, 'Kiss my fat ass,' that's what I feel like right now. I'm like Kiss my fat ass!"
You go, girl.

In other dramatic political news, the man who seems to do no wrong in the eyes of so many Americans, Barack Obama, slipped up on Jay Leno's talk show last night as he referred to his bowling score as being "like the Special Olympics or something."
Immediately following the show (and before it had even aired), Obama phoned Special Olympics chairman Tim Shriver from Air Force One to apologize.
- "He expressed his disappointment and apologized," Shriver told Friday's edition of ABC's Good Morning America. "He was very sincere." He added, "Words hurt and words do matter, and these words that in some respect can be seen as humiliating ... do cause pain."
Additionally, White House spokesman Bill Burton released an official statement on Obama's behalf this morning, saying, "The President made an offhand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics. He thinks that the Special Olympics are a wonderful program that gives an opportunity to shine to people with disabilities from around the world."
Shriver also noted he hopes this whole debacle will be a "a teachable moment for our country."
So much drama, and yet nothing having to do with our economic situation, the war in Iraq, healthcare, or any of the other mucho importante issues that are plaguing the nation.
Tell us what you think about Meghan's firing back against comments about her weight and Obama's reference to the Special Olympics.
