Our most popular story to date has been about the 13 year-old UK boy who became a father to newborn baby girl Maisie. This shocking story made headlines 'round the globe and people began sounding off about how they're too young, and a few people were saying there's no way he could be the father. Well guess what?

He isn't!

Following claims from other young boys that they, too, had been doing bad things with 15 year-old girl Chantelle, Alfie (and his parents) decided it best to get a proper DNA test. The test came back negative, proving Alfie is not the father.

    Alfie's mom said, "It had not even crossed Alfie’s mind whether Chantelle had not been faithful to him. He’s absolutely devastated that these lads say they slept with her."
    Alfie's dad said, "He said it was the first time he’d had sex, he didn’t know what he was doing or the complications that could come. I’ll talk to him again and it’ll be the birds and bees talk."

We think it's a little too late for that, but a little talk with Mom & Dad couldn't hurt.

Now, Chantelle is left to find out which of the other town boys is the real father of Maisie.

Scandal, scandal, scandal. Can we agree these kids are far too young to be doing these things?

Alright, folks, there are approximately two months left until the June meeting of the International Whaling Commission - the very moment that Hayden Panettiere and The Whaleman Foundation plan to present our petition to place a permanent ban on commercial whaling.

But we still have a long way to go til we reach our goal of one million signatures! Fortunately, this petition widget is going to aid us in collecting the remaining signatures needed. Sign this, grab it, and put it on your social networking profiles. Encourage your friends and family to do the same. If each of us get two people to sign a day, we will reach our goal with ease.

The whales are depending on us. Please help stop commercial whaling!

Are you familiar with "kitten season?" No? You're not alone. Every year, between the months of March and November, animal shelters and veterinary clinics alike experience a flood of homeless pregnant cats and newborn kittens in need of care or fostering.

Yes, kittens are wickedly cute, but without loving homes to support the influx of these newborn felines, many will grow up to be cats, and remain homeless. Worst case, many of these kittens will be destroyed by financially strained shelters who simply cannot keep up with the numbers.

Kitten Rescue, a local cat shelter in Los Angeles, says on their blog, "1,230 animals that [our] volunteers rescued, 820 were kittens, many as young as one day old."

Here are some facts about Kitten Season to keep you in the know:

    1. “Kitten Season” is the unofficial name for the mating season for cats and is generally assumed to last between the months of March and November;

    2. An unspayed female cat will go into heat every 3 weeks;

    3. The average size of a litter is 4-6 kittens;

    4. One mother cat can produce 18 kittens in one season;

    5. A female cat can begin having kittens at 6 months old;

    6. In 7 years 1 female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats!!!!!

    7. During “Kitten Season” the number of kittens far exceeds the number of homes available;

    8. During “Kitten Season” you will see signs everywhere for Kittens for Sale, they are sold by the wayside, they are dropped off in boxes at the grocery stores and they end up in animal welfare organizations;

    9. There are more kittens available than there are families to take them;

    10. During “Kitten Season” it is difficult to find loving homes for adult cats.

Sadly, it's not just kittens we have to worry about. Please - get your pet spayed or neutered! If you come in contact with a homeless animal that you think might not be 'fixed,' contact your local animal shelter.

Even if you can't foster a cat or volunteer your time at a shelter, you can still help by choosing spcaLA as your Cause on SocialVibe. Their current goal of $1,000 has 61 days left, and they're only $163 of the way there!

Cassette tapes. They're the prehistoric version of iTunes and CDs, once used for enjoying one's favorite music - although my preferred use was stringing them across my little brother's room to make a web-like booby trap.

Turns out I'm not the only creative thinker when it comes to cassette tapes - Flickr user iri5 discovered a new use for old media - using cassette tapes to create art, like the Jimi Hendrix masterpiece you see above.

Here's what he has to say about his series, 'Ghost in the Machine":

    "I am an artist who specializes in using non traditional media… old books, cassettes, playing cards, magazines, credit cards… whatever I can find. It feels great to work with strange, older materials. Things that have a mind of their own. Most everything I use has been thrown away or donated at some point. Past its prime, like some of the finest things in the world."

See more of his work, including images of Ian Brown and Jim Morrison, on his Flickr page.

It appears to be a bit messy, and maybe not as cool as tricking your brother into walking into a web of filmy tape, but it's still pretty awesome. Plus, it's a creative way to recycle unused cassette tapes. We likey!

Well, T.I.'s judgement day has finally come and gone. Hip hop phenomenon faced the jury in response to felony weapons charges that have come to haunt the 28 year-old - the verdict? One year and one day in a Georgia prison.

Originally facing up to 10 years behind bars, the Grammy winning musician paid a $100,000 fine and completed a total of 1500 hours of community service, much of which was filmed on his MTV reality show, T.I.'s Road To Redemption.

    "Today I would like to say thank-you to some, and apologize to all," the rapper said. "Everything I learned was through trial and error. I've learned lessons in my life to put in my music so people won't make the same mistakes as I."

He's expected to turn himself in on May 16 and thus begin his 366 day sentence. Although the trial is over, you can still choose T.I.'s Road To Redemption as your Sponsor on SocialVibe and earn 2x the points.

Last month, we had the opportunity to attend a benefit for Children Mending Hearts, where we not only heard speeches from the likes of Ben Affleck and Anderson Cooper, but we also participated in a live auction of some extremely unique artwork and photography from children in war-affected regions of the Congo.

Their latest campaign, Project T-Shirt, aims to provide t-shirts to children suffering from gender-based and sexual violence. Next month, Children Mending Hearts will be sending one of their celebrity ambassadors to the Democratic Republic of Congo to distribute these t-shirts, designed using artwork from over 1,200 children who participated in their recent art exchange in the Congo.

You can give a child "the shirt off your back" by making a donation to Project T-Shirt. Just $50 will provide 5 Congolese children with t-shirts adorned with artwork that could have come from one of their friends.

You've got until April 22, 2009 to be a part of this. Visit Children Mending Hearts to make your donation now!
