It's better to be hated for who you are than to be worshiped for who you are not. If you don't like what she believes, then don't agree with her. It's her choice. I personally think it's okay to shy away from conformity and I think same sex marriage is okay, too. Love has no rules, and as long as what you like makes you happy... that's all that matters. Ok , first of all, her personal beliefs should have nothing to do with whether or not she won the pageant. HOWEVER - I think it is the complete idiocy of her answer that bothers me so much.
We DO NOT have the freedom to choose in this country. Gay marriage is only allowed in four states. So that statement is blatantly false. She also says that she thinks its awesome to be able to choose, but that she doesn't think you should be able to choose. Contradiction much?

Well, I'm iffy. Everyone has their own opinion. You can't change everyones opinion. It was nice that she was completely honest. What I agree with is that people should have the right to choose.
