Those of you who became addicted to Animal Planet's first season of Whale Wars will be pleased to know that the popular whale-hunting series will soon be back for a second season.

whalewars

June 5 marks the return of the Captain Paul Watson and his crew aboard the Sea Shepherd, as they continue their quest to stop Japanese whalers dead in their tracks. Last year, the show not only experienced extremely high ratings, but the crew was successful in keeping the whalers from reaching their annual quota. Here's hoping they are even more successful this year.

Check out the Season 2 trailer below, along with a clip of some very graphic footage of a whale hunt.

You can save the whales on SocialVibe by choosing The Whaleman Foundation at your cause, and signing Hayden Panettiere's petition to stop commercial whaling.

Will you tune in for Whale Wars: Season 2?

Because Discovery warns that this footage is not appropriate for those under 18, we've put it behind a tag, but for those who may be on the fence about getting passionate about this cause, perhaps you should watch.

This is so stupid! What's the point of killing whales? Like really what the hell do they do with them?! Whale hunting or whatever it's "formally called" is dumb and has no rhyme or reason to it. Ugh gross.

"Captain Paul Watson" and his crew annoy me to no end. The show itself is even worse, as they try to play everything against the Japanese. Those two guys who BOARDED the Japanese ship should have been taken all the way back to Japan for persecution. And "Captain Paul Watson" was NOT shot at, I can't believe Discovery Channel even let him act like it. They tried to force the Japanese ship to stop with obstructions to their propellers didn't they? That's just absurd. This show is supporting a debatable cause with an obnoxious means. I hope the second season flops.

Marine scientists will have to euthanase about 34 whales that have stranded themselves on Kommetjie beach in the Western Cape.

Nan Rice, head of the Dolphin Action and Protection group said a decision had been made to put down part of a group of 55 false killer whales that could not be moved back into the sea.

About 20 of the whales had been rescued successfully.

"That decision has been made. I believe they may be doing it right now," she said. ....OMG this is so a heavy bad day for me and all of cape town S.A

PanaC, maybe if the japanese were here legally and not breaking multiple international laws, then we wouldn't be able to play everything up against them would we? These laws are there for a reason. Animals aren't here service us humans, we have absoulutely no right at all to hunt a species to extinction for MONEY. Because thats all its for, the money.

That's sad. How come nobody did anything? It seems like all they did was watch the poor whale die. :C This is just so sad.

Japan just likes being able to say no to the U.S. for something I heard about it directly from a Japanese man discusted with the whaling.
