LA-area SocialVibers, this is your official invitation to come join us on Friday night for the official premiere of the documentary Food, Inc. We're giving away FREE tickets and swag to the first ten people who send an e-mail to foodinc@socialvibe.com.*

*You MUST live in the LA area and include your name and your guests name in the e-mail.

We are so excited to be a sponsor of this premiere, and if you've seen the trailer, you'll know why - this film is going to be awesome. Featuring an undercover look at the well-hidden side of America's highly industrialized food industry, Robert Kenner's film reveals surprising -and often shocking- truths about what we eat, how it's produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.

The film even features interviews with nutrition experts such as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense Of Food). Peep the trailer here:

The event is taking place at the Nuart Theater in Los Angeles on June 12. If you're "hungry for change," passionate about the cause, or just want to come and see an awesome film, you can buy your tickets here (only $10.50!)

While at the premiere, you'll also have a chance to sign the Child Nutrition Act petition, automatically entering yourself in a raffle for one of five awesome prize bags that include a signed copy of In Defense of Food and an Angels and Demons CD signed by composer Hans Zimmer. (We'll also be handing out pink balls and SocialVibe bracelets!)

If you can't attend but still want to sign the petition out of the goodness of your own heart, you can do so here.

I'm really passionate about nutrition so I can't wait to see this! I've read fast food nation and seen supersize me, done other research...I remember a piece in Time a few years ago that completely stunned me.

I don't think this movie will do as well as An Inconvenient Truth. This issue has been around for ages. I've sat in on focus groups. The audience members honestly just laugh and claim they're gonna "go get a burger" or "buy a chicken sandwich" as soon as the documentary is over. I don't think gross-out tactics work. I saw Fast Food Nation and went and had beef stew the next night! I think we've become desensitized to violence. (Sorry to be a pessimist)
