Great news for fans of animals and supporters of peta2 today - the annual Canadian seal slaughter is officially over, and because of the help of you and other activists around the world, the number of seals killed this year dropped dramatically from 218,000 to only 70,000.

That's still a lot of seals who should have been spared, but what an amazing difference we've made so far. This year also brought great news for seals as the European Union and the U.S. both banned seal products, and world leaders spoke out against the massacre. Imagine the difference we can make next year!
To keep raising awareness, check out peta2's site OlympicShame2010.com, urging Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee to use their clout to help stop the slaughter, since all eyes are on Canada as it prepares to host the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Congratulations to all of you who supported peta2 during this important time. We're looking forward to launching a new campaign with peta2 on SocialVibe very soon!
