Don't ever let anyone tell you that your dreams are unreachable! A 17 year-old California teen just completed a task that few people have ever accomplished - sailing around the world alone. As difficult a feat this may be, Zac Sunderland also earned himself the title of youngest person to ever do so.

Zac and his 36-ft sailbot, Intrepid, managed to navigate 27,500 miles in one year, completely solo. On his journey, he encountered a number of challenges, including severe storms and pirates off the coast of Indonesia. How did he get through it?
- "[I] had a boat circle in and ended up calling in the coast watch and they chased them off but, yeah, [I] lucked out there! About an hour and a half of hell."
Aside from pirates, what was the most challenging part of his journey?
- “The hardest constantly was the tiredness,” he said. “I mean, you get over the loneliness, but tiredness, it’s an ongoing thing. Half the time I haven’t slept in 48 hours and it’s just hard to get enough rest.”
How about the best part?
- “It’s interesting just thinking back to the different places in the world because I have so many friends in different parts of the world that are like family, you know, and all these different experiences,” he said.
Zac documented his tireless but exciting journey and will be releasing a DVD called Intrepid: The Zac Sunderland Story.

As far as his future plans, Zac says he just wants to "go chill with my friends," he said. "Go skate. Go do something normal for a change, you know." Read more about Zac and his voyage at his website, sailzac.com.
