If you care about preserving music education in your school system, this is your chance to "do something" about it. Not ready to let music education slip away, Sean Kingston has teamed up with VH1's Save The Music Foundation and DoSomething.org as the new face of the campaign that empowers young people to take action and ensure the survival of music education in their community.
- "I really like what DoSomething.org stands for,” says Kingston. “I achieved so much success as a teenager and I want other teens to know that they can accomplish their goals as well, no matter what they are."
For kids who want to be an active part of keeping music education alive, DoSomething and Save The Music are offering free advocacy toolkits, project ideas and support to help fuel their efforts. They are encouraging young people to get creative with their support for saving the music, and submit photos and videos of their work between September 1st and October 16th. The best submissions will win grants for their schools music education programs, among other great prizes.
Sean Kingston explains more in this PSA:
- “DoSomething.org is all about encouraging teens to take action in their very own communities,” says Nancy Lublin, the CEO of DoSomething.org. “The VH1 Save the Music Foundation has had incredible impact, but if you’re not an adult with a credit card, giving money doesn’t make sense. We wanted to come up with a way for young people to take charge of their own education in a fun, flexible way that works for them.”
