Twitter's popularity continues to grow, and though many are critical of the micro-social network's staying power, one cannot deny its current mondo-success. Past studies have covered just who is tweeting, but a new survey by Crowd Science analyzes how and where we are tweeting.

Perhaps one of the scariest things this study has shown is the volume of people tweeting while driving. Despite proof that texting while driving is extremely dangerous, 11% of Twitter users have admitted they access the service while driving (compared to 5% of other social media users).
Other interesting stats:
- - 40% of Twitter users access it on their mobile
-46% check Twitter daily, but 24% have stopped tweeting or never even started
-Over half of Twitter users use the service via a third party provider/app (like TweetDeck or TwitterBerry)
While most tweeters use the service while at work or in the classroom, the convenience of being able to quickly share information with your followers from anywhere at anytime has led us to tweeting from some very unusual places - not least of which is the bathroom. The study found that 17% of Twitter users have used the service while in the washroom or toilet. This is more than those who tweet while driving! Yuck.
Next time you're reading that tweet, think to yourself, "where is this coming from?"
