Today is more than just the start to a new month, full of changing trees, cooler weather and Halloween candy. It's also
World Vegetarian Day, a day in which vegetarians and vegans around the world celebrate the benefits of an animal-free lifestyle with parties, potlucks, food-tasting exhibits and more.

How can you celebrate?
- - Wear informative vegetarian message T-shirts throughout the month.
- Share educational facts about the benefits of eating vegetarian by updating your status this month on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Try a new vegetarian recipe every day in October (or as often as you can!)
- Give an educational presentation for any group you are affiliated with.
- Throw a vegetarian potluck party and invite all your friends and family.
- Host a screening of vegetarian and related documentaries or films for friends.
- Submit an entry to the North America Vegetarian Society, showcasing your veggie-activities in a creative, original way. You could win a trip to Vegetarian Summerfest!
Non-vegetarians can also celebrate by eating meat-free for the month of October, or at least participate in Meatless Mondays!
Visit worldvegetarianday.com for a list of all the ways you can celebrate.
And of course, one awesome way to celebrate your vegetarian lifestyle is to support peta2 on SocialVibe. They have an exciting new goal up today, which we'll be posting more about later!
