Did you know that every 8 minutes, a woman is raped? The Democratic Republic of Congo is roughly the size of Western Europe, and rich in many valuable materials, many of which are used to make the gadgets we use everyday.* The heavy cost of these materials has resulted in one of the deadliest wars since World War II, killing over 5.5 million people in the last ten years. Brutal rape is one of the most common weapons used in this war.

Award-winning actress Sienna Miller took a trip to the region this past Spring with International Medical Corps to learn more about this devastating situation, and has teamed up with TakePart to "shine a light" on what we can all do to make a difference.

In a travelogue for TakePart, Sienna says:
- "I broke down twice on this trip. The first time after being in the displacement camp outside Goma, seeing the woman with the colostomy bag. I had to step into an empty tent and sob. I had consciously planned on keeping it together, but the visual and the look in her eyes broke me."
The film is very short, only eight minutes long, and extremely heartbreaking and compelling. Please take a few minutes to educate yourself by watching this film. Then, visit TakePart.com/CongoWomen to find out what more you can do to help.
