Last week was World Hunger Relief Week. We may have missed the boat on taking action during the week, but there are still a ton of ways you can help feed the over one billion hungry people in the world..
This month, DoSomething has designated Feed the Need as their cause of the month, hoping to top last year's 1 million pounds of food raise. They're encouraging young people across the nation to organize your very own food drive!

From DoSomething:
- "Starting November 1st 2009, middle and high schools, sports teams, Do Something Clubs, church groups and teens nationwide will lead food drives to help fight hunger and bring hope to communities in need.
Organize a food drive in your community! Register your drive to help us reach our goal of 1 Million lbs of food collected by teens. You could win a pizza party sponsored by DS and a $1000 donation to your local food bank!"
Organizing a food drive sound daunting? It so isn't. We've been reading some hilarious stories on DoSomething's Twitter about students who have put beloved teachers on their school rooftop, not letting them down until they collect 10k cans of food, and principals who pledged eat a can of cat food if the student body reaches their fundraising goal (BTW, they did... and he did. Yum.)
Don't waste another moment! Here are some helpful tips on how to get started, and here's a PSA about the cause from the cast of The Secret Life of the American Teenager:
So how are you going to get creative and give back?
You can also use your time online to feed the hungry by checking out World Food Programme's Billion for a Billion campaign, and of course by choosing WFP or DoSomething as your Cause on SocialVibe!
