The Grammy awards are still a couple of months away, January 31 to be exact, but nominations were announced last night, and it seems this year's awards are going to be dominated by the females.

Beyonce leads the pack with an incredible 10 nominations for her album I Am.... Sasha Fierce and her iconic song "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." Taylor Swift isn't far behind with eight Grammy nods for her already award-winning album Fearless.
The barely-20 year old songstress was shocked at her nominations, despite having one of the best selling albums of the year outside of Michael Jackson.
- "To be recognized by the Grammys is the ultimate honor," said Taylor. "...all I know is that when I write about this in my journal tonight it will be in all capital letters and underlined four times, and there will be lots of exclamation points in this entry because I never imagined I'd get to write this kind of journal entry," she gushed.
Of course no modern awards ceremony would be complete without Lady GaGa - this envelope-pushing pop star is nominated five times for her album The Fame - yet she isn't eligible for the Best New Artist category because perviously nominated artists are ineligible (her single Just Dance was nominated in a Dance category last year). Grammy voters will instead be chosing from Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson, MGMT, the Ting Tings and the Silversun Pickups. Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said that scenario won't likely happen again: "There will be some changes so that particular situation won't repeat itself."
Other Grammy nominees include Kanye West, Jay-Z, Kings of Leon, Black Eyed Peas and Maxwell. Check out the full list of nominees at grammy.com.
