I feel dirty. After you see these photos of 'Garbage City,' the town outside of Cairo, Egypt literally overrun with trash, you probably will too. Inhabitat has some breathtaking shots (and not in the good way) of the waste-infested city that is populated by a community of workers called Zabbaleen. These workers personally collect, sort, reuse, resell and repurpose Cairo's trash.

This is an eye-opening look at where our modern over-consumptive behavior may lead us (think WALL-E), and at the perfect time of year, the holidays. The time of year when we feel compelled to spend entire paychecks on buying gifts for others and for ourselves, and think nothing of the consequences - the garbage we're pumping into the ecosystem each time we discard shopping bags, product packaging, wrapping paper, food packaging, old stuff we don't use/need anymore, and the many other forms of waste.
