Currently, the world's most powerful leaders are meeting in Copenhagen to discuss a climate treaty that would provide a peaceful and economically sound solution to battle climate change, preventing further resource depletion and rising surface temperatures.

Nobody really knows how long it will be until a reasonable agreement is made, but to demonstrate just how precious time is, check out this time-lapse footage of how drastically Alaska's Mendenhall Glacier shrank in the past two years.

“Nature’s best thermometer, perhaps its most sensitive and unambiguous indicator of climate change, is ice. When ice gets sufficiently warm, it melts. It asks no questions, presents no arguments, reads no newspapers, listens to no debates. It is not burdened by ideology and carries no political baggage as it crosses the threshold from solid to liquid. It just melts.”
– Dr. Henry Pollack, Professor Emeritus of Geophysics, University of Michigan.
