Thirsty? Before you reach for another can of refreshing, bubbly and sugary soda, watch this ad from NYC Health's anti-soda campaign, Drinking Fat. It's a little grotesque, but it effectively illustrates the health dangers that come with scarfing down can after can of sugary drinks.
As the department explains, most people don't realize just how many sugary calories are packed into a sodas, juice drinks, sports drinks, sweetened tea and coffee drinks. A 20 oz bottle of soda can contain up to 250 calories and more than SIXTEEN teaspoons of sugar! Blech! Lemon-flavored iced tea isn't any better, with 210 calories and 14.5 teaspoons of sugar. Kind of makes your stomach turn, doesn't it?
