Brands are getting smart about changing their plans and manufacturing practices to reflect the consumers' growing desire for greener products. Greenpeace, one of the world's largest organizations defending our planet, has created a guide that grades the leading electronics companies on how green they are.

See how they add up:

Nokia and Sony Ericsson are highest on the list by far, with Lenovo, Microsoft and Nintendo lagging at the bottom. Apple, Sony, HP, Panasonic and others are hoovering somewhere around the middle.

We won't be surprised to see Samsung move up on the list quickly, thanks to their recent announcement that they'll be allocating $4.3 billion to creating greener products and investing $1.8 billion in manufacturing practices that emit less carbon.

See the complete guide to how they graded the companies on Greenpeace's website.

Does this report affect which products you will buy?
