Nearly two weeks after the deadly earthquake shook the capital city of Port-au-Prince to ruins, rescue workers are still working around the clock to dig out, heal survivors, rebuild the cities, and restore peace in the region. Beginning at 8pm tonight, January 22, some of the brightest stars in Hollywood will be coming together around the world to participate in a widely broadcast telethon to raise funds for continuing relief efforts in Haiti.

Hope for Haiti will be one of the largest telethons in the history of television, airing on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT. So pretty much, every network. If your TV is on tonight, you'll at least be catching a bit of the can't-miss show that will air commercial-free and will feature appearances from celebs such as Brad Pitt, Zac Efron, Sandra Bullock, Rob Pattinson, Renee Zellweger, Colin Farrell, Courteney Cox and performances from folks like Madonna, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, U2's Bono, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Sting, Christina Aguilera and more. Our international friends will be able to tune in, as well, as the show will not be limited to US borders.
George Clooney will be hosting in LA, native Haitian Wyclef Jean will be hosting in NY, and CNN's Anderson Cooper will be hosting on location in Haiti, where he has been since hours after the earthquake struck.
- “We’re doing a telethon on all the channels, every network in the country and international as well,” said Clooney. "It’s an unbelievable show. Bono’s written a song for it and songs are going to available on iTunes that night.
“People in Haiti have absolutely nothing. There are times when, as bad as it is for many people in this country, people also realise how much worse it is for them and they are very compassionate.”
Proceeds from this mega-fundraiser will benefit Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti, as well as UNICEF, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, and the Red Cross.
Sounds like one event you won't want to miss. Will you be tuning in and calling in to contribute?
