Can you believe it? The battle between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts was so riveting, it actually managed to take the title of the most watched event in TV history! Super Bowl XLIV pulled in an amazing 106.5 million viewers, ousting the 1983 finale of M*A*S*H and taking the title!

Granted, the total U.S. population was much smaller then, so the actual rating (percentage of TV homes tuned to an event) was lower than the M*A*S*H episode, but this is still quite impressive. After all, that is a decades-long record!
Why do you think this year's Super Bowl was so compelling to watch? Were the teams just that good or was it something else? Did you watch?
