There's a first time for everything! The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver are going strong, and apparently, more people are interested in watching Shaun White take the gold in half pipe snowboarding than watch American Idol contestants compete for a record deal.

For the first time in the show's six year history, American Idol was ousted as the reigning champion of television ratings - in the hour that the two were competing for viewers, the Olympics drew in 30.1 million viewers, 11.7 more than Idol.
Among America's early gold medal winners are Shani Davis, Lindsey Vonn and Shaun White, who all took first place in their events last night.
What would you rather watch - the Olympics or American Idol? Did you catch any of last night's events?
