The musical geniuses that are Vampire Weekend have given their fans a tasty little treat from their just-released album Contra, a video for one of the first singles, 'Giving Up The Gun.' As if that weren't exciting enough by itself, the video is extra-awesome because it has cameos from stars and musicians like Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil' Wayne and Wu-Tang Clan's RZA.

Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig said the inspiration for the video came in the middle of the night. "I was stressed out one night worrying about the video and an image popped into my head of our friend Jenny (who's also in the 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa' video) playing tennis against a samurai. It grew from there," Koenig tells Spinner.
Video directors The Malloy Brothers helped out on casting, but the band already had a good idea about who they wanted to cast. "I was pretty surprised it all worked out," admits Koenig. "We always thought RZA would be perfect. We'd been in touch with Lil Jon since the first album. He heard the reference on 'Oxford Comma' and sent us some cases of Crunk Juice. Joe Jonas and Jake Gyllenhaal were both excellent -- lot of improvisation and some surprisingly powerful serves." Despite that, it's Jenny who eventually wins the day.
Cute video, catchy tune - all in all, a solid win for Vampire Weekend.
