Thanks to an overwhelmingly successful fan-led social media campaign, Betty White will join former cast members Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch as the host of a special 2010 Mothers Day episode of SNL.

A few months ago, a page appeared on Facebook, asking both Betty White and Saturday Night Live to consider her as a host. The page quickly accumulated more fans than the actual SNL fan page and grabbed the attention of media, network execs, and Betty herself.

The veteran actress has been a big advocate for animals for most of her life and says that as much as she loves entertaining, her work for animals is what she finds most fulfilling. We heart her.

Aside from being a great person, she’s also a great sport. Here she is (at 87 years old!) playing beer pong with Jimmy Fallon:
