As we've been settling into Fall and observing all the changes happening around us, we're reminded of the simple things that we turn to for comfort - a good book, a warm bed, our best friend's shoulder, a long run. This week, we asked you to submit Pink Ball photos around the theme Comforts, showing us what you rely on for comfort when it's cold outside or the going gets tough. Here are our picks!

Each member will receive 50 SocialVibe points. Scroll down to find out what this week's theme is for your own shot at 50 points!

Being in college now, I don't really have anyone but myself to rely on when I am not feeling well, so I keep him close as a comforter. He reminds me of better days, of good times...back when my bestie and I would search shops, vainly looking for a plushie that was more like a realistic wolf than a husky. Well, we finally found one, and she bought him for me. :)"

THIS WEEK'S THEME is: Your favorite school subject. Whether you're still in school or have long since graduated, all of us had a favorite subject in school. Were you a Literature nut or did you prefer Chemistry experiments? Perhaps Art or Phys Ed was more of your thing? Whatever it is or was, take a Pink Ball photo with your favorite subject!

Send your Pink Ball pics to pinkballphotos@socialvibe.com. Include the theme in the subject line and your SocialVibe URL in the e-mail. The best photos will receive 50 SocialVibe points! If you upload your photo to Flickr, be sure to tag it with #SocialVibe.

In case you missed it, our girl Hayden Panettiere stopped by The Ellen Show yesterday to chat about her mission to save the whales and why she is so connected to this particular cause. Naturally, she told everyone about her petition to stop commercial whaling with The Whaleman Foundation on SocialVibe!

Please thank Ellen for helping us spread the message about SocialVibe and Hayden's petition by tweeting her @TheEllenShow.

BTW, she totally gets bonus points for sporting a wet suit on the show.

We've added a new look and some new functionality to SocialVibe, but some things never change, and we will never stop drawing attention to our own superstars, the members. While we truly enjoy bringing attention to Hollywood film stars, musicians, politicians and other public figures doing good, we are even more stoked to share stories of SocialVibe members who are using their time to make a positive difference in the world.

picture-11

Today's featured member is Juztin. If you're an avid reader of The Vibe, you will know that Juztin has been a contributing editor a couple times in the past. In addition to being an aspiring writer, Juztin is also passionate about saving our planet and the animals that live on it, and has created some unique campaigns to spread awareness for SocialVibe. Get to know Juztin:

The basics: Name, age, location, rank:
My name is Juztin New. I'm 18 years old and I live in Cincinnati, OH. I'm currently ranked 342nd with 307,960 points.

What is your current Cause and why?

My cause is World Wildlife Fund. I chose this cause because I like to support animals and I believe that our environment got the way it is because of us so in my opinion its our job to nurse it back to life.

What is your favorite brand activity on SocialVibe and why?

I don't really have a favorite brand activity, but I love that you actually have to be involved with the brands now in order to get points, and its easier to make more points now. I love the new features of brands on SocialVibe.

What brands would you like to see involved with SocialVibe?
I would like to see Skelanimals get involved. It would work perfectly with the World Wildlife Foundation. :)

On which networks are you currently using SocialVibe?
I use SocialVibe on MySpace, Facebook, Stickam, and MyYearbook.

How do you spread the word about SocialVibe?
I used to own this MySpace profile called Promote SocialVibe (myspace.com/promotesocialvibe), which was a good way to persuade people to sign up, but it died down and I stopped using it. I also post plenty of bulletins and I make my SocialVibe badges visible as much as possible.

What else are you doing in your daily life to do good (volunteering, etc.)?
Due to the fact that I have no job or car, I can't really get around anywhere to do any volunteering and I can't really make donations to any organizations, so SocialVibe gives me the opportunity to help out organizations from the comfort of my own home.

Are you a member of any other websites that allow you to create social change?
I haven't found any worth my time other than SocialVibe, so no.

What advice do you have for individuals who want to make a difference?
Everything counts, whether it's big or small. Everything and anything you do can make a difference.

When you’re not off saving the world, what do you do for fun?

I'm currently enrolling into Westwood Online College for Graphic Design & Multimedia. I enjoy designing, listening to music, and hanging out with my friends. :)

Here is Juztin's badge, so you can help him earn points for his cause!

Each one of you has a story, and we want to hear it! If you'd like to be the featured member on The Vibe, send us an e-mail at editors@socialvibe.com telling us why!

POSTED 1 MONTH AGO

The following is a guest post from the members of the SocialVibe Product and Technology Team:

You’ll notice that there have been some dramatic changes here at SocialVibe over the last 24 hours, and as many of you have already discovered, one of the biggest changes is how points are earned. While these changes might seem confusing at first, don’t worry - they were designed to increase the amount of money the SocialVibe Community is able to earn for charity.

picture-112

Previously, the way people earned their points here at SocialVibe was as follows:

You select a sponsor, put the badge on your profile, and earn points every time your profile gets viewed.

Pretty simple. So, why the change?

Bottom line, advertisers are a lot more interested in driving activity and engagements so that they can have a more meaningful experience with you.

Engagements represent active attention from you. Because advertisers find engagements that drive discussion around their brand to be highly valuable, more support for charities becomes possible.

By doing brand activities, and sharing them with your friends, you’re helping to
increase the support that the SocialVibe Community provides for charity.

For some of you, it is true that the new engagement model will result in you earning less points. However, rest assured that the points you earn in this new engagement model are much more valuable to your charity than they were before, and that the SocialVibe Community as a whole is now able to generate a lot more money for the charities we all care so much about.

Now, go do some engagements and help your charity!
