Have you ever wondered what life is like for girls in Africa? Now is your chance to find out!

As the winner of Camfed’s Live from Africa Challenge, Kristy Green is about to embark on the trip of a lifetime – her reward for recruiting ten friends to Camfed’s SocialVibe page, which focuses on educating girls in rural Africa.

On March 19th, Kristy will be traveling to a remote region of Zambia to meet students, filmmakers, and young entrepreneurs in the communities where Camfed works. She’ll also be Tweeting from the field, as well as seeking answers to 10 of the best questions we receive from you, our members, and capturing the answers on video.

Submit a question to Camfed in the comments section of this blog post between now and Thursday, March 18th. On Friday, March 19th, Camfed will post the 10 questions that they have selected on SocialVibe and www.camfed.org.

So go ahead: ask Kristy something you’ve always wanted to know about life in rural Zambia, and she’ll report back to you on her return so you feel like you were right there with her!

David Hyde Pierce pushing for new bill to double funding for Alzheimer's research

You guys know David Hyde Pierce -- he was one of the stars of Frasier and has played countless smaller roles throughout the course of his career. Here he is:

He's joining with Republican Senator Kit Bond and Democrat Senator Barbara Mulkowski to introduce the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer's Breakthrough Act, which would double federal research funding for Alzheimer's to $1.4 billion per year. Isn't it nice when both sides of the aisle can agree on something?

Mr. Pierce is a board member of the Alzheimer's Association and lost his grandmother to the disease, so he knows first-hand about its dangers.

We can't imagine why anyone would vote against the bill, but when it comes to Washington, D.C., you never know.

We're sure hoping it passes!

Obama Picks Charities to Receive Nobel Cash

President Obama, who was "surprised and deeply humbled" by the nobel prize he received last December, has chosen the charities to which he will be donating his award money. The $1.4 million will be shared among 10 organizations that the President has said "do extraordinary work in the United States and abroad helping students, veterans and countless others in need," and that he is "proud to support their work."

Which charities, you ask? Number one on his list is the Fisher House Foundaiton, an organization that supports military families in times of need. Next comes the The Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, set up by former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush following the devastating earthquakes in January. The rest will be shared among 8 additional organizations focusing on education and development. See the complete list here.

Did You Text Dolphin to 44144?

During the acceptance speech for The Cove at the Academy Awards last night, you may have noticed a sign held up by dolphin trainer and activist Ric O'Barry. The sign, which ABC cut away from pretty quickly, siad "Text Dolphin to 44144." What happens if you do?

According to TakePart.com, the online presence for the film company behind The Cove, Participant Media, texting dolphin to 44144 doesn't deduct any money from your account. Rather, it signs you up to receive information about how you can help end the annual Japanese dolphin slaughter.

The Hurt Locker Sweeps Oscars & The Cove Wins Best Documentary

Well, the biggest night in Hollywood is officially over, so how did the Oscar nominees measure up? Underdog The Hurt Locker was the big winner of the night - not only did the modern day war film walk away with Best Picture, but director Kathryn Bigelow was the first ever female to win in the Best Director category.

Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) delivered a tearful speech following her win for Best Actress and Jeff Bridges won his first Oscar for his performance in Crazy Heart. Supporting Actor and Actress Oscar winners were Mo'Nique for her role in Precious and Christoph Waltz for his role as a Nazi in Inglorious Basterds. The beloved Up walked away with the Oscar for best animated film. James Cameron must have been pretty bummed, Avatar wound up scoring only three Oscars - Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects.

And!!!

We were very thrilled to see The Cove win for best documentary film. Hopefully this means the film will continue to inspire and educate millions about the unnecessary and cruel dolphin slaughter in Japan and bring us closer to the day those whalers are permanently shut down.

It's Finally Alice in Wonderland Time!

It's here! It's here! It's finally here! After nearly a year of waiting, Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland is finally making its theatrical debut this weekend. The film, starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman and newcomer Mia Wasikowska as Alice, has gained an extremely high amount of publicity by releasing competitive Facebook fan pages, extended trailers, unofficial soundtracks and high-quality preview images.

So now, it's time to see if all this waiting was worth it.

In honor of this momentous occasion, check out this vintage video of the very first film-version of Alice in Wonderland - from 1903, only eight years after the birth of cinema. The original novel was written by Lewis Carroll in 1866. Yes, this story is over a century and a half old. Incredible.

The video, while still very impressive, is nowhere near as supremely awesome as this Mouse-Trap-style version that has been spreading like wildfire (2.6 million views in 3 days) around the internets. FunnyorDie SNL Presidential Reunion For Financial Reform

A hilarious new FunnyorDie video featuring SNL's "Presidents" is making the rounds on the interwebs this morning in the name of financial reform. Americans for Financial Reform, a group of national organizations both big and small, played a large part in the creation of the video, which urges Congress to act quickly on Financial Reform including a strong and independent Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

The video, directed by Ron Howard and written by Adam McKay and Al Jean was shot just days ago and stars actors who played Presidents on Saturday Night Live, including Will Ferrell (George W. Bush), Fred Armisen (Barack Obama), Darrell Hammond (Bill Clinton), Chevy Chase (Gerald Ford), Dan Aykroyd (Jimmy Carter), and Dana Carvey (George H. W. Bush). Comedian and actor Jim Carrey even got into the action as Ronald Regan, along with SNL alum Maya Rudolph as Michelle Obama.
